Savigny les Beaune blanc

parcel: Connardis

“Traces of smoke, citrus and reduction lead to round, delicious and attractively vibrant middle weight flavors that possess solid complexity and persistence on the appealingly dry and balanced finale. This is really quite good for a Savigny blanc and in particular given that this is a “simple” villages, I very much like the depth. 88/2019+

Savigny Moutier Amet

 parcel: Moutier Amet

(Moutier Amet abuts Les Narbantons). “Also light ruby color. A relatively high-toned nose stops just short of being fruity with its combination of red currant, cherry, raspberry and a whiff of earth/humus character. The lighter weight (but not dilute) flavors possess good vibrancy and detail with a relatively suave mouth feel, all wrapped in an ever-so-mildly drying and warm finish. Despite the touch of dryness it’s actually not fatal to the overall sense of harmony though it would be fair to observe that the balance isn’t perfect. “87/2020+

Savigny Les Lavieres 1er Cru

parcel: 1er Cru Lavieres

“A distinctly earthy and layered nose exhibits soft spice elements on the pretty mix of both red and dark pinot fruit where additional nuance is present in the form of smoked game. There is good richness to the delicious, round and nicely vibrant flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the sappy and sneaky long if slightly warm finish. This is not a particularly dense wine but I like the texture and developing depth. 89/2021+

Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Beaune

parcel:  la Champans

“A layered if rustic nose of red and dark berry fruit aromas that display the typical freshness of the Hautes Côtes. There is good detail to the middle weight flavors that are underpinned by moderately robust tannins that are ever-so- slightly drying on the otherwise persistent finish.”

Bourgogne Pinot Noir

“ A bright cherry red intensity, with pronounced aromas of freshly crushed strawberries and morello cherries. Both forceful and gentile, with fine spice and light red fruits.”

Savigny Les Haut Jarrons 1er Cru

 parcel: 1er Cru Haut Jarrons

“There is a whiff of menthol to the earthy forest floor nuanced red and dark berry aromas. There is a lovely texture to the mid-palate of the rounded and velvety flavors that contrast noticeably with the somewhat edgy, warm and dry finish. Like the Moutier Amet, this is not without a certain appeal but it would again be fair to observe that the balance isn’t what it could be.” 87/2019+

 Savigny Les Gollardes

parcel: les Gollardes

“ Light ruby color. A cool and restrained aromatic assortment features notes of both red and dark currant, earth and a hint of humus. The supple, round and nicely vibrant flavors possess good punch that carries over to the reasonably rich finish where a subtle hint of dryness imparts a mildly clipped character to the slightly warm finish. This is perfectly good but not distinguished and is a wine that could be enjoyed young if desired. 87/2019+”

Bourgogne Aligoté

parcel: les Gollardes

“A light white wine, white gold in colour with strong green highlights. Its bold, fresh fragrance is reminiscent of grapes, green apples and lemon. On tasting, its liveliness and dominant acidity are well complemented by a suppleness that is discrete yet sufficient. It leaves a pleasant aromatic persistence of great finesse.”
