2017 Châteaunuef du Pape rouge

The 2017 Châteauneuf du Pape is an 80-20 blend of Grenache and Syrah, aged mostly in foudres. Ripe Cherries mark the nose, joined by notes of dried spices and a hint of tapenade. Full-bodied and velvety in texture, it should drink well for up to a decade.

2016 Châteaunuef du Pape rouge

Grenache (80%) Syrah (20%)

“This is a breakout vintage for Comte de Lauze because the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape looked impressive in this year’s blind tasting. Peppery and floral up front, it reveals layers of supple raspberry, apricot and chocolate on the full-bodied palate, backed with rich tannings and a chewy finish. It should come into it’s prime drinking window within a couple of years, and stay there for a decade and a half.”

93 Points. Wine Advocate Drink 2020 through 2038 Issue #238

“Ruby-red. Dried cherry, raspberry, exotic spices and hints of garrigue and smoked meat on the fragrant nose. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering gently sweet red fruit, spicecake and succulent herb flavors that deepen steadily on the back half. Fine-grained tannins make a late appearance on a long, smooth finish that leaves a suave floral note behind.”

2018 Châteaunuef du Pape blanc

Grenache blanc (45%) Roussanee (35%) Clairette (10%) Bourboulenc (10%)

“Classy hints of pencil shavings frame tangerine and lime notes on the nose of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a silky feel and a fine, elegant line of acidity that runs through the long finish.”
