Domaine du Prieure
2017 Savigny Les Lavieres 1er Cru
parcel: 1er Cru Lavieres
“A distinctly earthy and layered nose exhibits soft spice elements on the pretty mix of both red and dark pinot fruit where additional nuance is present in the form of smoked game. There is good richness to the delicious, round and nicely vibrant flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the sappy and sneaky long if slightly warm finish. This is not a particularly dense wine but I like the texture and developing depth.

2017 Savigny Les Haut Jarrons 1er Cru
parcel: 1er Cru Haut Jarrons
“This took a long time to open up, indeed I elected to allow it more than an hour of air before looking at it carefully and even then the nose was closed. So I put it aside and tried again the next day and that was enough oxygen to do the trick as the dark berry fruit, spice, game and distinctly earth-inflected nose began to express itself. The serious and brooding flavors were also initially quite tight though with air they became a bit more supple on the lingering if ever-so-slightly warm finish. This is clearly built-to-age and while it won’t be necessary to wait the full ten years before it matures, I would suggest allowing it at least 5 to 7 years.”

“Spice filled red fruit aromas. Expressive and pure, sweet strawberry fruit, spice, and a kiss of oak. Deliciously round ripe cherry fruit with nice floral and spice accents. A complete wine with good balancing acidity and cut. Long finish.”
2018 Savigny les Beaune blanc
parcel’s: Connardis and Vermots
“Traces of smoke, citrus and reduction lead to round, delicious and attractively vibrant middle weight flavors that possess solid complexity and persistence on the appealingly dry and balanced finale. a very fine Pear, white Nectarine fruit, and a very pretty white floral quality. Slight creaminess, a fine balance of creamy white fruit and fresh minerality. This is really quite good for a Savigny blanc and in particular given this is a “simple” villages, I very much like the depth. ”
2018 Savigny Moutier Amet
parcel: Moutier Amet
(Moutier Amet abuts Les Narbantons). “Light ruby color. A relatively high-toned nose stops just short of being fruity with its combination of red currant, cherry, raspberry and a whiff of earth/humus character. The lighter weight (but not dilute) flavors possess good vibrancy and detail with a relatively suave mouth feel, all wrapped in an ever-so-mildly dry finish:
